Ways to convince your spouse that marriage therapy is needed
One of the hardest things in life is when you are in a relationship that is struggling. Whether you are a couple just starting or have been married for many years. It is a tough thing to go through.It does not only affect the couple themselves but also other aspects of their lives.Their kids can also be affected. It can affect work as well.So what are the ways to convince his/her spouse to go see a marriage counselor? This article hopes to answer that.
You might be wondering why it is important to convince your spouse? Because it is proven time and time again in my San Diego marriage counseling practice that a lot of times only one person wants help.Those would be the times when it is hard to convince the couple that they really need help. If that is the case you need to know how to show them the relationship needs help.But it would still be up to the couple to decide if they still want to save their realtionship. If they don’t care anymore it won’t help.
So when one person comes to me needing help as a San Diego marriage therapist I try to come up with ways to show the other person they need help.And one way I try to convince that other person is by showing how serious their problems are.I try to show them that their problems as a couple also affect their whole family. I try to show them how it is affecting other areas of their life.Most of the time, those ways are enough to convince to try counseling.But that is if they still want to save the relationship.
Now doing couples counseling San Diego there are times when the other person doesn’t want to fix the relationship.If that is the case then the other half who wants help must have other plans to convince his/her other half. Of course it will be hard but if a person is ready to leave what can you do.You can point out what they are doing wrong in the relationship but if they do not listen then what can one do more.
